Richard R. Lindsay, 62, of Lee, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2024. A respected member of the community and a cherished voice in local journalism, Richard's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him.
After graduating from St. Mary’s Catholic School and Lee High School, Richard pursued a Broadcast Journalism degree at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. He dedicated his career to informing and engaging the public as a news broadcaster/news director at WSBS in Great Barrington and as a news writer/reporter at the Berkshire Eagle in Pittsfield. His contributions to journalism were marked by integrity and a deep commitment to his community. Richard would also often lend his vocal talents to various parades and high school sports games.
An avid Boston sports fan, Richard's enthusiasm for the game was only surpassed by his love for his family. Richard’s infectious sense of humor, his never-ending “gift of gab”, and his overwhelming sense of positivity etched an ever-lasting reputation among the residents of Berkshire County.
Richard is survived by his devoted wife, Carla, his loving sons, Zach and Alex, his daughter-in-law, Sharleen, and his ever-loyal Saint Bernard Lily. Richard was preceded in death by his father, Robert, and mother, Helen.
Visiting Hours for Richard will be held from 5-7PM on Wednesday, March 20th, at Kelly Funeral Home in Lee, MA. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM on Thursday, March 21st, at St. Mary's Church in Lee, MA, where Richard was a valued member of the congregation. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Baystate Regional Cancer Program honoring Richard's generous spirit. Checks made out to Baystate Regional Cancer Program may be mailed in care of Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
Richard's legacy of kindness, dedication, and community service will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
