Joan Jarvis Obituary

Joan Jarvis, AKA June, Junebug, Granny Goose, G-Jones, Gramma Jones departed from us while in the care of Fairview Nursing Home and Hospice Care in the Berkshires.

She was born in Becket, MA and spent many of her last years residing at Hyde Place, in Lee, MA. Joan often shared her memories of growing up in Chester, MA–hunting for salamanders in the streams above her house, being startled by a snake wrapped around the base of blackberry bush, Fish Pole Harry, her little dog Wiggles, cheerleading, playing basketball in high school and writing poetry.  She had a talent for singing and playing guitar and found a home in country music. "Wake up Little Susie" and "You are My Sunshine" were a couple of her favorites.

Her last days were quietly spent with love and support from her family. She will be missed.

She is survived by her sister Sandra Thomas, daughters Maureen Baker, Kelly and son-in-law Rev. Gene Pelkey; sons Donald Baker, Harold Jarvis Jr., Brian and daughter-in-law Elly Jarvis; grandchildren: Lynn Comtois, Heather Baker, Christopher St. Amant, Danny Bates, Elizabeth Buratto, Abigail Pelkey, Gene Pelkey Jr., Penelope Baker, Kassandra Riley & Joshua Jarvis, Louis & Olivia Jarvis as well as her great-grandchildren and loving cousins.

A graveside service will be held at the Becket Cemetery in the fall.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lee Council on Aging. Checks made out the Lee Council on Aging may be mailed in care of Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
