Betty Jane (Touponce) Homich

Betty Jane Homich, 83, of Lenox, Massachusetts, passed away on February 29, 2024, surrounded by the loving embrace of her children.  Born in Great Barrington on August 6, 1940, she was the second daughter of the late Jules and Stella Kania Touponce of Stockbridge, and a 1958 graduate of Williams High School in Stockbridge.  Betty worked for a period at Wheeler & Taylor Insurance and spent most of her career as medical secretary for Austen Riggs Center in Stockbridge.
She enjoyed going to tag sales, trying out new recipes, and cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events.  She was never a critic of their athletic abilities or deflated at a loss, as she cared nothing for sports and was only present to be in their lives.  She lived her life modestly and devoted to spending time with and taking care of her family.  She also enjoyed vacationing with her husband and their friends later in life.  She took a vacation with her son to England realizing a lifelong dream. She will always be remembered by her children as sweet and so very loving, and the type of mother anyone would be lucky to call mom.
Betty married Edward Michael Homich of Stockbridge, MA, on July 27, 1963, and together they remained in love, devoted to each other and happy raising their three children in Stockbridge, MA. She was a former member of St. Joseph’s church in Stockbridge. 
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, and is survived by her children Peter Homich and his partner Terri Wilbur, Christine Quetti and her husband David, John Homich and his wife Laura, and four grandchildren, Kevin Quetti, Matthew Quetti, Jason Homich and Avery Homich.  She is also survived by her two sisters Linda Touponce and Karen Touponce.  Betty was predeceased by her parents and sister Geraldine Pergola. 
A Graveside Service for Betty Jane Homich will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, 10AM at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Stockbridge.
